It's possible for a collaborator to remove any participant's post within a discussion. Click on the arrow next to the post's timestamp and choose Remove post from the Admin actions in the drop-down menu:

You'll then be prompted in your browser to confirm that you want to remove the post. Click OK to complete the action and remove the post.
